    It seems when you buy new ally plates they are really thin and flimsy so i made my own from some ally / plastic / ally laminate which used to be an old Grahams builders merchants goods in sign . Ultra light weight but very strong i made both plates for both cars from one sign

      The letters make a big diference Dave.

      Looking at how much they charge now per letter for proper ones wish i had collected more old number plates !

      Nice work, I did this on Mildreds but managed to recover the original back plate.

              So having referbed the switch panel back to light grey using a bit of a parts tray I fancied a white / cream / grey lighter to go in it . Saw one once in a 60s Cadillac so figured id find one .
              Yeh right - made of unobtainuim .
              So converted mine using one of the old drawer knobs of my late grans old kitchen cupboard

                Dave, lloks the part, you can get these style as well in most classic VW beetles, love the rocket launcher in case anyone else missed that label
