With the increasing use on moderns of HID headlights and retina removing DRLs a dipping interior mirror seemed a must .
Wingard who made the Imps interior mirror did do a dipping Mirror that fits straight onto the Imp stem . it was for a Reliant Scimitar ( in black ) and sadly for us poor folk MK1 RS Escorts and Lotus Cortina MK1 and 2 ( in light grey ) , they now cost 3 figures although ive recently got one cheap black one via ebay for Barnaby but as yet its not arrived - il let you all know what its like .
Anyway I wanted something posher for the Singer and found an early Wingard mirror an Beaulieu which happens to be for an XK150 Jag
, ball size was identical and it comes apart . It took a lot of thinking to get the Imp stem in it , basically make the hole bigger in the mirror back , fit the stem through the hole and then close it back up as it was .
It worked well and whilst the mirror itself is only the size of a standard Imp mirror its perfectly usable and doesnt vibrate .
I did try a Lucas screw on one and whilst it fitted fine it did vibrate rather badly so had to go
