It always baffled me why the door catch is made of soft alloy AKA Monkey metal.
In the days before new catches were available i repaired mine by lining the teeth with a bit of brass held on with small blind rivets .
Ive since got a few NOS door ones but seeing as the brass lined ones are working fine they are still fitted years later
