  • Oilite bushed throttle pedal

The original pedal pivot idea is shite beyond believe and this one was royally borked giving a very clunky pedal movement .
Ive found some perfect fitting top hat oilite bushes the correct size internally and externally and have worked out a way to mount them - cable end is easy but the spring end less so .
First I made up two mounts for the bushes , holes are for oil

You can see the wear groove in the original set up along with a trial fit of said bush

I cut the pedal in half , made up a threaded sleeve , thread is 3/8UNF and is perfect for the pedal shaft size , Use two thin inner nuts and two all metal driveshaft coupling nuts and locked it solid

Next was weld a spring stop on it . Apparently its better to have the thinner nuts inside so swapped these over , also cut a spanner slot for the sleeve , i used thread lock as well as the double nuts .

Then fit it in , small hole , brass washer and a split pin keeps it from moving as in the original set up

You can easily alter the pedal angle by loosening the nuts but i kept this standard . Its been fitted since Nov 2016 and still feels super smooth - one of the best things i did in fact . you could use needle rollers instead of bushes and i guess theres a few ways of doing this so have a think and a play . Both of my cars have this set up

I am still temnpted by this as I need to cut/weld the throttle pedal anyway to make it fit. Thanks for this Dave, another golden gem out in the open
