Modern fuel pumps are usually inside the tanks hence why you cannot hear them. Viton tipped needle valve in a weber will take more than 4 psi these pumps are way quieter than the old facets you guys are thinking of and pressure and flow rate is correct for 998 on 28/36, everybody usually goes for facet cubes (noisy) or the cylindrical type and just buy what they see without checking out the spec so usually end up with a red top or gold top that is capable of feeding a 300 bhp rally car then they buy a regulator to control the pressure always baffled me. I use genuine mitsuba pumps very hard to find and the ones on the web are copies and expensive poor ones at that. The mitsuba on 6mm fuel lines keeps up with my 1040 on twin 40 webers 3.5 psi at carb and plumbed in series to keep pipework neat and no difference which one you run either sucking through standby pump of pushing through, flow rate is more than the car can consume and the pressure is not affected. The new style facet i have recommended is not as quiet as an su pump but on a standard car with carpets etc and rubber bobbin mounted i doubt you will hear it on the move. I know how fussy you are Dave with road car stuff and making your imp reliable and user friendly, quiet, smooth etc. Using modern kit but keeping the tradition of the car it is why you are my test mule for any comp parts that i think may cross over, if you say it is horrible then i can mention this if anybody wants anything for a road car if you say it is fine apart from a slight increase in noise or vibration but ok just not for you, i know where i am when advising people.
